it has been an exiting start to the new Year 2014. I want to close my photographic Year 2013 with the last Blog entry and my 13 days Eastern European Trip. I traveled by car to experience the full beauty of the countries I was happily able to discover.
I started in Slovenia, which I have never been before, a Country full of Beauty I have to say, just right behind Austria, there is Bled with its beautiful Castle and Church a must seen. Than I went further into Ljubljana the capital which has a very beautiful castle right in the middle of the City on a hill, where you can see the whole town and the surrounding Alps, just amazing. The historic Town is also stunning with little corners here and there to discover. If you enter a Pub, you have to try the "Human Fish", I know its not the nicest name for a Beer and its not the cheapest, but worth every penny, believe me. The Human Fish is the little salamander living in carves and is very famous in Slovenia. Looks like a fish, but the skin does have human colors, thats where the name comes from and a Australian emigrant took that name and named his own brewed Beer after it. Good Marketing, stunning Beer.

I traveled on and reached Austria, I have been sleeping in Deutsch-Schuetz - Burgenland, in the Hotel "Koasa" you will not fin a better view over these stunning Wine Yards (you can find a Panorama of it in my Picture box, from the Hotel also at night), wow so many colors you cant just ignore it, it is a wonderful place of earth.

Just 20 Kilometers from that place is the Hungarian border, or whats left from it. So I traveled on to Szombathely (Steinmanger), well a nice littleplace not too much to see, but at least some good food opposite the McDonalds Restaurant, but honestly not the paradise for any Photographer .

After a drive of 3,5 hours thru, "nah lets say I didnt stop to take any pictures scenery", I reached Budapest, I have been there before but that was the first time I was armed with my 5D Mark II, oh and Budapest is so beautiful, you can take thousands of pictures if you want, because there are so many different and beautiful things to experience. Just a quick one as you can find everything in a Guide as well, you have definitively to try Palinka and yes all different sorts of it, it is the national drink and it keeps you warm if you need warm, or it keeps you cool if you need to cool down. Go in one of those very beautiful and romantic Vine Cellars, where you might find some Gypsy's which play beautiful music for you whilste you drinking fine Tokai.
The famous Budapest Chain Bridge
After 3 days Budapest I went on to Slovakia, where I unfortunately didnt see a lot but took 2 of my best pictures of 2013, because of that stunning and burning Sunset there, with the fog just crawling out of the ground.
After that Tour from South to North Slovakia, I entered the south of Poland and visited Krakow, which is a City I will definitively visit again. Wow what a stunning Castle and old town this City has. Very romantic and fascinating. Also Krakow does have the biggest Market Square in the World.

Also the castle is so beautiful and you can experience a lot at Day and Night.

After 2 days Krakow, I found my way up north, 9 hours later I arrived at Gdansk, where I stayed 2 days but it was raining all the time, but nevertheless I made my tour thru it. And I have to say this City is just as stunning as Krakow was. And I believe when I will come back to experience a beautiful Sunset I will see a even better side of it.
Gdansk - Old Town
After that Tour thru Eastern Europe I drove home over Berlin and after 4000 Kilometers and loads of photos, I have to say it was well worth and I will do it again.

Hope you will enjoy your Eastern Europe trip.
